The Prarie Schooner with Grandpa Jay

At the end of August we picked up my Grandpa Jay and headed north for a drive up to Ogden. My grandma died just short of three years ago and my grandpa is pretty lonely without her. They used to go on drives for hours at a time. Honestly, I think my grandpa enjoyed those drives a little bit more than she did, but she was a good sport about it. Now a drive up to Ogden is a little short for my grandpa's taste, but that was the best we could do with three kids in tow.

We stopped for dinner at the Prairie Schooner because we had purchased a gift certificate on a deal website a few months before. My boys thought the place was fabulous. We had just finished reading "Where the Red Fern Grows" and "Old Yeller" so they loved all the animals that are displayed around the covered wagons where you eat.

Bradon took this fab photo of my grandpa and me. Doesn't he have mad photography skills? The boys enjoyed sitting in the covered wagon. I like the fact that your kids can't peer over into the both next to you. I think all restaurants should take this up.
Tanner is a great eater and he ordered a steak. No chicken strips for him please (although he wouldn't mind a bite if offered to him).
Another great picture this time of Tanner and me thanks to Mr. Bradon. Not bad for a two year old. The kid is obsessed with cameras. He even took this fine shot of his chicken strips. He also got some shots of the top of the covered wagon, but I'll leave those out of this post.
All in all it was a fun evening out with my grandpa. The boys have requested that we return to this particular restaurant. I'm good with that so long as they don't mind skipping a few regular meals during the week. It's a fun place, but pricey. Ethan even requested that we eat there last Thursday on grocery shopping day with my mom, but since we figured we wouldn't have any money left over for grocery shopping if we went there he had to settle for The Pie. Yee-hah!

Bradon has some impressive camera skills. That kid is so tech savvy... It cracks me up.
