Easter & Brian's Birthday

Some of you may know that this year Brian turned 30. I decided that we couldn't let this birthday passed without a proper celebration, and so I booked a hotel in downtown Salt Lake for a night and we took the family on a little stay-cation.

This happened to occur over Easter weekend and so we had to combine our festivities. A couple of nights before we gathered the gang outside to dye Easter eggs. Bradon and Brian were the supervisors.

Tanner did so much better this year! We didn't have anywhere near the mess that we had last year. His fine motor skills have improved a lot. It's amazing what a year can do when you're so young.

It felt nice to be outside on spring day, even if it was a little cool still.

The night of our mini-vacation arrived and we got in the van and drove 15 minutes to our hotel. Acutally we stopped and got some dinner on the way and ate it in our hotel room. It didn't take long for the boys to decide that it was time to go swimming!

I picked the Hilton Garden Inn for it's high ratings on TripAdvisor (I just love this site), and because they had a good sized indoor pool. The hotel was really great and the boys just loved the pool! Tanner learned how to stay afloat with a life jacket and once he got the hang of that he was swimming all over the pool.
Bradon got his first taste of swimming. He didn't really like it all that much and really clung to us. I think he was a bit perplexed by the whole experience.

Surprisingly, he did like the pool a little better when we put him in his baby float. He rarely cracked a smile, but he wasn't screaming either. I think he'll have to warm up to the whole swimming idea.

After swimming we went back up to our room and had a little popcorn before bedtime.
In the morning we had an Easter egg hunt. The boys were surprised to come out of the bathroom and find that eggs were all over the hotel room. Bradon kindly donated his candy to mom and dad, but he did get an outfit and some stacking cups.

Ethan and Tanner were delighted to discover that they had recieved baseball gloves! Perfect for the upcoming tee-ball season.

After our egg hunt we went back down to the hotel for some more swimming before it was time to pack up and head home. This little break went by way too quickly and was really a lot of fun. We'll have to do it again sometime.
